Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, build pet parent relationships, and ensure pet safety while contributing to store success. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
- Upsell services and merchandise to boost salon sales and meet metrics.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions daily.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required – complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales and merchandise to meet targets
- Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties
