Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in St Thomas, Ontario, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and assist with emergencies or other departments as needed. Follow all company policies.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and use depth perception in a fast-paced pet salon environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to safety, computer skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
