Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position in our Stockton store emphasizes skill development, customer engagement, and maintaining salon excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe grooming skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminders, and client records.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and composure under pressure. Computer proficiency required.
