Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's expert grooming teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and build lasting pet parent relationships. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and computer proficiency. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lifts for heavier), standing, stooping, and keen depth perception for safe pet handling.
