Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional customer experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to build a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for all pets.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Physically demanding: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out procedures
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and achieve productivity targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
