Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Sunset Valley, Texas, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists, mastering industry-leading grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety, and building lasting pet parent relationships while maintaining top salon standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise to drive salon sales and productivity.
- Uphold cleanliness and humane conditions in the grooming area with daily maintenance and end-of-day checklists.
- Monitor pet health, take action on sick/injured pets, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
