Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and enhance the pet parent experience while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist in pet emergencies or other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a pet hair-filled, noisy salon. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required; computer proficiency essential.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
