Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Thousand Oaks, California, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport if needed. Flexibility to support other store areas is essential.
Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds (team lift over 100), and work in a pet hair-filled, sometimes noisy environment with moderate physical exertion.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Proficiency in computers, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and passion for pets are key.
