Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Tigard, Oregon location, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and promote salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon standards, handle pet health issues promptly, and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services per PetSmart standards
- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company expectations
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent experience including greetings, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; perform daily maintenance
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to achieve targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies
