Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role at our Tinley Park, IL location provides hands-on training from industry-leading professionals. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you’ll deliver exceptional salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and customer satisfaction while building your grooming expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon services for sales growth.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client communications professionally.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance.
- Respond to pet health issues promptly and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must pass PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
