Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while upholding our vision, mission, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Build safe technical skills, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales.
- Handle check-ins/outs, reservations, client consultations, and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure salon cleanliness, pet welfare, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments, follow policies, and participate in our culture of Belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
