Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Located in Topeka, Kansas, this position offers a dynamic path to a rewarding career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls. Maintain salon cleanliness, recommend wellness solutions, promote sales, and assist with pet health issues by transporting to vets as needed. Uphold company policies and contribute to store operations.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational abilities, and physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
