Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon hygiene, and driving salon sales in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and ensure positive experiences.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and respond to pet health issues.
- Promote services and merchandise to achieve sales targets while assisting in other store areas as needed.
- Uphold company policies, pet safety, and our culture of Belonging and Recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but passion for pets is key. You must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled environment. Computer proficiency required.
