Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Traverse City, Michigan, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while learning industry-leading grooming techniques. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, and store cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Core Grooming Duties
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Develop safe technical skills meeting PetSmart’s standards.
Customer Experience
Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and recommend wellness solutions to drive sales and satisfaction.
Salon Operations
Maintain cleanliness and humane conditions, handle pet emergencies by transporting to vets if needed, and assist other departments as required.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, strong communication, organizational abilities, composure under pressure, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
