Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Troy, Michigan, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, maintain client records, and drive salon sales. Uphold cleanliness, report sick pets, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.

Daily Tasks Include:

• Greeting clients and handling check-in/out procedures
• Performing maintenance and end-of-day cleaning
• Promoting merchandise and rebooking services
• Ensuring pet safety in a high-volume salon

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, and work in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
