Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring top-tier salon services, store cleanliness, and pet safety.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation per checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues or other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational prowess, communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift frequently; exposed to moderate noise, pet hair, and wet conditions. Depth perception essential.
