Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role at our Tucson, AZ location offers hands-on training from industry-leading professionals. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and more per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain records, and drive sales. Uphold cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist across store departments while embodying company values.
Daily Operations
- Greet clients, handle check-ins/outs, and conduct reminder calls.
- Perform end-of-day cleaning and maintenance checklists.
- Promote salon metrics and productivity goals.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Strong communication, organization, and computer skills required.

- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
