Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver top-tier salon services, and uphold our vision for pet care excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in grooming while contributing to store operations and pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting PetSmart's expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experiences through consultations, reservations, check-ins, and personalized recommendations.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform end-of-day maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise, while assisting in other departments as needed.
- Respond to pet health issues promptly, including vet transport if required.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Academy training to qualify. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise.
