Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet health issues by coordinating vet transport when needed. Support store operations and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have prior grooming experience (technical exam may apply) and complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, sales acumen, computer proficiency, and staying composed under pressure. Must be flexible with evenings/weekends/holidays, organized, detail-oriented, and physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
