Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote salon sales and merchandise, maintain impeccable salon hygiene, and ensure pet safety—escalating issues like injuries immediately. Assist other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, attention to detail, and communication. Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy environments with pet hair, and climbing ladders.
