Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
• Build safe grooming skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
• Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client consultations.
• Maintain salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and achieve productivity targets.
• Assist with sick/injured pets and collaborate across departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
