Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a thriving grooming career while contributing to store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, following daily maintenance checklists.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate action for sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments, uphold company policies, and participate in our Belonging and Recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates have prior grooming experience (technical exam may apply) and complete our Salon Academy training. You'll need computer proficiency, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

Responsibilities

- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
