Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety, salon cleanliness, and exceptional pet parent experiences. Obtained post-Academy completion, it's your launchpad into a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon hygiene via daily checklists, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Prioritize pet welfare by identifying issues and arranging vet transport if needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, climbing, and keen depth perception.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and team-lifting over 100 lbs in a fast-paced salon environment.
