Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Vancouver, Washington location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's the perfect launchpad for a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure pet safety, promote sales to hit targets, and assist other departments as needed. Take immediate action for sick/injured pets and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, communication skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
