Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision from expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, store cleanliness, and driving salon success in a fast-paced retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote sales.
• Handle check-in/out procedures, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking.
• Maintain impeccable salon sanitation, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and contribute to a culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a noisy, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
