Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role follows successful completion of PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision from expert stylists, you'll learn industry-leading grooming techniques, deliver exceptional salon services, and ensure pet safety while engaging pet parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, client records, and reminder calls.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Drive sales through merchandise recommendations and service promotions.
- Assist other store departments as needed and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek flexible candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to lift 50+ lbs. Evening/weekend/holiday availability required. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and depth perception.

- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, including vet transport
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies
