Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Victoria, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. Ideal for animal lovers eager to launch a career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, promote sales, and maintain a clean, humane salon environment. Assist with sick/injured pets, store operations, and uphold company values.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting clients and handling reservations/check-ins
- Performing supervised grooming services
- End-of-day cleaning and maintenance
- Sales promotion to achieve targets
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a pet hair/wet environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
