Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from industry-leading stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence in our Victorville, CA location.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and maintain impeccable salon cleanliness. Promote services to drive sales, handle check-ins/outs, and respond swiftly to pet health needs.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services
- Recommend health/wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments as needed
