Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Located in Vienna, Virginia, this position offers a dynamic path to a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
- Handle pet parent interactions: greet, answer questions, manage reservations, conduct check-ins/check-outs, reminder calls, and rebooking.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services and merchandise to achieve targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
