Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Waco, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational grooming skills while ensuring pet safety, salon excellence, and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, check-ins/outs, and promote salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; perform daily maintenance and end-of-day cleaning.
- Monitor pet health, take action on sick/injured animals, and assist across store departments as needed.
- Uphold company policies, values, and safety protocols while participating in team recognition initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a dynamic, pet-filled environment.

- Capacity to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair/wet environments (experience)
