Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Walla Walla, Washington, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, maintain salon cleanliness, and assist with sick/injured pets. Participate in store-wide duties and follow all policies.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and computer proficiency. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays required.
