Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart's Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision from expert stylists, mastering safe techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet parent engagement, salon operations, safety, and driving salon success in our Warwick, Rhode Island location.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services under supervision while developing technical skills to meet company standards.
- Engage pet parents in-person and via phone to manage appointments, consultations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebookings.
- Recommend wellness products and services to boost pet health and salon sales targets.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions per daily checklists.
- Monitor pet health, respond to emergencies, and assist other store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but no prior certification is required—complete our Salon Academy for success. You need strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
