Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver top-tier salon services, and uphold our vision for pet care excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in grooming while contributing to store operations and pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through consultations, reservations, check-ins/outs, and personalized recommendations.
- Drive salon sales by promoting services, merchandise, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
