Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Wauwatosa, Wisconsin location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations while under supervision.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification required. Ideal candidates have strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair/wet environment.
