Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Wayne, New Jersey, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and teeth brushing per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure pet safety, and assist in other store areas as needed. Handle sick or injured pets promptly and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.
