Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to build a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote sales of merchandise and services, uphold salon cleanliness, and respond to pet health issues. Collaborate across departments while embodying our culture of Belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records

- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
