Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations including greetings, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Contribute to sales targets and store-wide support while upholding company values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds, flexibility for varied shifts, strong communication, and a passion for pets. Proficiency in computers and composure under pressure are essential.

Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon services and merchandise to achieve sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
