Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll learn from PetSmart's expert grooming teams post-Grooming Academy. Gain hands-on experience delivering top-tier salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent interactions. This entry-level role builds foundational skills for a rewarding grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing per PetSmart standards.
- Consult with pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-in/out, client records, reminder calls.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; perform daily/end-of-day maintenance.
- Monitor pet health, transport to vet if needed, and assist other store departments.
- Drive sales targets and promote salon growth opportunities.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart provides comprehensive training, but prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply). Successful candidates complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits: flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise.
