Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Wesfield, Massachusetts, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and outstanding pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, reservations, check-ins/outs, and client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and maintain salon sanitation. Ensure pet safety, assist with sick/injured pets, and support other departments as needed. Follow all company policies.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organization, communication, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility (evenings/weekends/holidays), and proficiency in computer applications.
