Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in West Long Branch, New Jersey, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote salon sales, ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions, and assist with sick/injured pets. Flexibility to support other store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational abilities, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, holidays.
