Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in professional pet grooming while ensuring pet safety, salon excellence, and outstanding customer service. Advance your career in pet care with structured training and real-world application.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings with professionalism.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling required, including evenings/weekends/holidays.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
