Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
- Recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, client records, and sales to achieve targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and take action on sick/injured pets.
- Greet pet parents, assist with reservations, and promote merchandise.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
