Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Westover, WV location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll build safe technical skills under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, and uphold cleanliness and pet safety standards. Assist in other departments as needed and follow all company policies.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and computer proficiency. Passion for pets and customer service essential.
