Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance and end-of-day checklists.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and immediate response to sick/injured pets.
- Collaborate across departments and uphold company policies for a positive store culture.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart prioritizes trainable talent. Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but completion of our Salon Academy is required. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, and physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
