Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Whitehall, Pennsylvania location, you'll train under experienced Professional Stylists in PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services and ensuring pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions, including daily maintenance and emergency pet care response.
- Assist across departments, follow company policies, and contribute to store goals.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Need strong communication, organization, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.

- Capacity to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet health emergencies
