Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Wilmington, Delaware, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while delivering exceptional service to pet parents and ensuring pet safety.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, maintain salon cleanliness, and promote services to drive sales. Handle pet health issues promptly and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in wet, noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays essential.
