Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll receive hands-on training from industry experts on proper techniques. This position focuses on delivering exceptional salon services under supervision while upholding pet safety, store cleanliness, and company values.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
• Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
• Assist with sick/injured pets and collaborate across departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational detail, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, climb, stoop.
