Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Woodbridge, New Jersey location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging with pet parents and ensuring positive experiences. Successful completion of PetSmart’s Grooming Academy unlocks this position, setting you on a path to full Pet Stylist certification.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services like bathing, brushing, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, and uphold cleanliness and pet safety. Assist in other departments as needed and follow all company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate noise and wet conditions.
