Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in our Woodhaven, Michigan location, you'll receive hands-on training from industry-leading Professional Stylists through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills, delivering exceptional pet parent experiences, and upholding our vision for pet wellness. Advance to Pet Stylist upon academy completion.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote salon sales. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions. Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Conduct check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
- Recommend merchandise and wellness solutions
- Follow maintenance checklists for sanitation
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our technical exam if applicable. Must finish PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Thrive in fast-paced environments with strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for shifts, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
