Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position in Wooster builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and ensure humane conditions. Respond to pet health issues and assist store-wide as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organization, communication, computer skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, assist other departments as needed
